Helping Hands Appeal

The Helping Hands Appeal has been launched in response to the need to refurbish and remodel badly outdated facilities and to enable us to improve the quality and expand the range of services we provide.

Deafness is a complex disability and can result in sufferers feeling isolated and insecure.  Manchester Deaf Centre has an unequalled track record of providing a range of support services and offering a safe haven to its users for more than 163 years.  Our current home has been untouched in 34 years and is now badly in need of improvement.  We are acutely aware that our users find it unwelcoming, old fashioned, poor quality and wholly inadequate to meet growing demands and to enable us to realise our ambitions for the future.

The Centre is the major provider of services to deaf people throughout Greater Manchester drawing users from its doorstep across the City and from all over its outlying districts.  Around 500 people of all ages use the Centre each week, from toddlers to senior citizens.  They are either profoundly deaf, deaf-blind, hard of hearing or suffer from tinnitus.

The Helping Hands Appeal – what difference will it make?
