Youth Club

Fridays, 6.45pm to 8.45pm
Where: Manchester Deaf Centre

The Deaf Youth Club meets regularly on Friday Evenings from 6.45pm till 8.45pm during the term time only. This youth club works similarly to the hearing youth clubs but they need interpreters in order to receive information. The youth club leaders all use Sign Language with the members.

Children/Youths between aged 8 to 17 and Deaf, Hard of Hearing children of Deaf Parents can go to the Youth Club. The admission fee for each children/youths is £1.

The group have a lot of fun at the club with Football, Rounders, Badminton, Table Tennis, DVD Films, Games and Drama etc. They mainly enjoy each others company communicating in their own language British Sign Language (B.S.L). They visit other clubs, go swimming (at Manchester Aquatics Centre), Ten Pin Bowling, Manchester United Football Club, Sport City, Wizard of Oz Pantomime (BSL signed performance at the Lowry Centre) and on other different type of outings by using the centre’s Minibus.

Youth Club have no link with the Youth Service at present but hopefully this will change soon.

The Deaf Centre has also held Play schemes throughout the Easter and Summer School Holidays.

We want to improve the Youth Club and would like to know your views. INTERESTED??
