Our Mission

Manchester Deaf Centre seeks to maintain services that are demonstrably effective in making real change in the lives of D/deaf people. Where there are gaps in provision or innovative ways of doing more, and doing it better; we will devise projects that answer that need and respond to what we learn from working with and  as part of the D/deaf community.

To achieve its vision Manchester Deaf Centre will:

  • Provide spaces for D/deaf people to socialise and learn.
  • Create opportunities for D/deaf people through employment and training
  • Devise, gain funding and run projects that lead directly to positive outcomes for D/deaf people
  • Influence national and local public policy and seek opportunities to play a role in research and commissioning
  • Work in partnership with others for the benefit of D/deaf people
  • Promote D/deaf culture and the use of British Sign Language (BSL)
