For the deaf community

Our Trafford Deaf Advocacy Service supports deaf, hard of hearing and deaf blind people within the Trafford area to access and benefit from health and social care services to reduce health inequalities and improve the quality of life. 

We provide IT support that allows service users to access services such as Sign Video and Text Relay, enabling clients to contact their bank, internet provider, the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and others, independently and in their own time. One person said:

“The Trafford Advocacy Service has been extremely helpful with a variety of issues, I’ve been really pleased with the support they offer. For professionals

The service also raises awareness and educates health professionals to ensure their services are accessible to the deaf community. We deliver health workshops and also support social care services to make the necessary changes across front line processes with the improvement of deaf people’s access and experience in mind.

Previous health talks have covered men’s mental health, diabetes and bowel cancer, and we encourage the Trafford deaf community to tell us what talks they would like to see next.

Working hours

Thursday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. 

Face-to-face appointments are available: Thursdays 10 am to 12 pm at Stretford Public Hall; and Fridays at MDC 10am – 3pm. Due to Covid, this is currently by appointment only.
