Anita goes to the BSL Conference in London

In March this year, our staff member Anita Kanji had an exciting trip to London to attend the British Deaf Association’s 2023 BSL Conference. Here is Anita telling us all about her trip:

"Hello, I want to tell you about my recent trip to the BSL conference. I really enjoyed being there. It was great to meet with people I haven’t seen for a long time as well as meet new people. I also enjoyed meeting and networking with lots of professionals. There were lots of different presentations. They were themed around the BSL Act and looking at what it means for the future: what improvements we hope will follow from it.

I found the information very interesting. Two of my favourite presentations were: one talking about the importance of education for deaf children from birth onwards; and one talking about the importance of deaf awareness in audiology and wanting all audiology staff to learn BSL and Deaf Awareness in the future. They were amazing presentations, and it is hoped that these aims will be achieved in the future because of the BSL Act."
