Meet our new Development Worker Kelly Priestley

Kelly has recently joined our team full-time and she hasn’t wasted a second in getting stuck in to her new role. Kelly is currently working with the WAITE team, providing a dedicated advocacy service for our 50+ social group every week on a Monday, and organising and leading our Thursday wellbeing group activity programme.

She has also taken over responsibility for recruiting and supporting our volunteers. MDC is currently recruiting to a range of roles including working with our youth groups and bar work.

Kelly says:

“I started learning sign language around 15 years ago and I’m now studying Level 4. I made some brilliant friendships within my local Deaf community and ended up volunteering to provide communication support for housing association meetings, video calls, and updates throughout the pandemic. This experience led me to considering applying for jobs in which my BSL skills could be useful.

I’m delighted to be part of Manchester Deaf Centre. I have a passion for inclusion, acceptance, and equality. I’m committed to helping people unlock their inner potential, with a smile and enthusiasm.”
