Riley’s Bar update and upcoming social events

Riley’s Bar at MDC, which opened in August 2021, is proving popular as a meeting place. It is open every Wednesday evening from 7pm to 10pm, and at other times when there are events running.

Recent events have included a Halloween Quiz, an evening with Lynn Stewart-Taylor, founder of the #Where Is The Interpreter Campaign, and monthly coffee mornings. Our first market held in October was a huge success. Stalls included jewellery, handmade soaps, Macrame crafted gifts, cakes and brownies, and Body Shop products. Drinks and food were available from Riley’s Bar. Most of the stall holders were deaf or hard of hearing and enjoyed meeting each other.

Upcoming events at Riley’s

  • Every Wednesday: Deaf Club meets in the bar from 7pm onwards.
  • Friday 12th November: Cheese & Wine tasting and 4 workshops (see poster). 3pm to 9pm.
  • Saturday 4th December: Deaf Centre Christmas Market 11am to 2pm. All stalls are already booked out!
  • Wednesday 8th December: demo Body Shop products and place Christmas gift orders with Scott & Adam. 7pm to 10pm.
  • Monday 13th December: Coffee morning. 11am to 1pm.
  • Wednesday 22nd December: Deaf Club Christmas Party from 7pm to 10pm (adults only).
