Level 1 Award in British Sign Language
Start signing with confidence
Level 1 is a 30‑week, term‑time only course for complete beginners, designed to help you start communicating in BSL with confidence. No experience needed — just curiosity and a willingness to learn..
By the end of Level 1, you’ll be able to:
- Introduce yourself and others
- Take part in simple everyday conversations
- Ask and answer basic questions
What you’ll learn
- Meeting people and sharing information
- Food, drink and daily activities
- Describing people, objects and interests
- Numbers, weather and routines Plus an introduction to Deaf culture and respectful communication.

Cost: £410 (tuition only) Payment: 2‑instalment plan available (non‑refundable deposit)
Important: Course fees do not include exam fees. Exam fees and an administration fee are payable separately for each exam booking, including resits.
