As Head of Centre at Manchester Deaf Centre, I am dedicated to creating an inclusive, empowering and fully accessible environment for deaf, deafblind and hard-of-hearing people across Greater Manchester.
I have been profoundly Deaf and a BSL user since birth and have been part of the Deaf community throughout my life. I hold a degree in Deaf Studies from the University of Central Lancashire and have worked within the voluntary and Deaf charity sector for over 20 years, primarily in advocacy and leadership roles.
Throughout my career, I have supported Deaf people across a wide range of areas, including domestic abuse, safeguarding, health, social care, education and access to services. This work has given me a deep understanding of the challenges many Deaf people face, as well as the importance of ensuring that support is accessible, person-centred and shaped by lived experience.
My commitment to Deaf rights, accessibility and culture is central to both my personal values and professional life. I believe strongly in community-led leadership and ensuring that the voices of Deaf people help shape the services and decisions that affect them. At Manchester Deaf Centre, I lead the team in developing our services, strengthening partnerships and building connections across Greater Manchester.
I am proud to be part of a team that celebrates Deaf culture, challenges barriers and works towards greater equality, inclusion and opportunity for all.
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, mountain biking and paddleboarding, when I can find the time!
