Madeline Robinson

Manager of MDC Children and Young People's Service

I joined MDC as a trustee in October 2023 and became manager of the Children and Young People's Service in March 2024. This role involves the development of MDC’s services for d/Deaf, Hard-of-hearing young people, CODAs and siblings as well as ensuring all planning supports the development of life, social, emotional and personal skills of our d/Deaf participants.

I come to the role of CYPS Manager with eight years’ experience working in the translation and education fields with a focus on removing communication barriers. I am a hearing person and was introduced to the D/deaf community through subtitle translation. In 2022 I undertook training in SDH which led to me studying BSL Level 1 at MDC in 2023. I now hold Level 2 with plans to reach Level 6 by 2029.

In my spare time, I am a school volunteer at Thomasson Memorial Day School for Deaf Children where I provide communication support and teaching assistance. I have always loved languages so I speak fluent Italian and am learning Welsh on Duolingo. I am also teaching myself to use a sewing machine and dream of making all my own clothes one day!
