I am the Project Support Officer at Manchester Deaf Centre, where I organise presentations and activities for the Manchester Deaf Social Club, as well as provide advocacy support for its members.
My education began at the Royal Schools for the Deaf in Manchester, where I attended from the age of 2½ until 7, before moving on to mainstream schooling. After 25 years working at the Inland Revenue, I moved into a more specialist role with the Hearing & Vision Specialist Service (formerly Stockport Sensory Support). There, I work as a peripatetic specialist teaching assistant, supporting deaf children across Stockport in nurseries, primary, and secondary schools.
Outside of work, I enjoy organising events such as Christmas Balls, parties, and social gatherings. My husband and I also love going for walks — we often take the train to one station and walk to the next before heading home. We are season ticket holders at Stockport County too, so most Saturdays you’ll find us in the stands cheering the team on!
